Northern middle Tennessee! We have Speckled Sussex hens and Toulouse Geese!!

    More Mice😭

We went with the professionally made 5 gallon bucket traps ultimately, but there was nothing like the enjoyment of watching a homemade trap. There are lots of instructions on how to build these on the Googles, but quick down and dirty - Rolling log trap - snip off the straight portion of a...

I wish they could stay this size forever!

We have the two, but the wife wants a Gander after we build the goose house next month. I’ll be on the lookout for a male Toulouse gander.

    Does anyone make mead?

We harvested our first 3 gallons of wildflower honey from our Italian Bees. Expect another harvest in July. Our first gallon of mead is brewing. Wonder if anyone else makes mead?

    Any ideas with goose eggs?

Never thought about Angel food cake. OK… we will give that a try. Might also try the lemon curd. I have about 20 of the goose eggs in the refrigerator that need to get used.

I wish they could stay this size forever!

Keeping Goslings indoors was a ROYAL pain in the butt, but the bathtub moments made it all worth it! It’s amazing these little things grow up into massive Toulouse geese!! It’s impressive how quickly they mature.

    Black Vultures

I have a TON of vultures here but they have never attacked anything in the coop. We have two large geese in there now as insurance against airborne predators. The only incident we had was a hawk trying to attack one of the geese. The goose easily got away. The vultures are impressive in how...

Geese dumped close to our property

They are beautiful geese! They will be a fine addition! If I lived closer, I’d certainly take them.

    Any ideas with goose eggs?

Oh… learned that baking with them is not a good idea. Too much yoke, not enough egg white.

    Any ideas with goose eggs?

I love goose eggs for omelets. Recently, we made “Deviled Goose Eggs” for Easter. They were HUGE and awesome. There’s a picture below. We WERE NOT trying to be pretty :) … mostly just trying to see what they’d do and how they would taste. I find that goose eggs are richer than chicken eggs...

    More Mice😭

We caught 24 mice in two nights using homemade 5 gallon bucket traps. We have now received some products from Rinne Traps. The “Dizzy Dunker” and the “Flip and Slide”. Both are very effective and EASY to use. Been messing with these mice for 5 nights now. We have thinned them down...

Newbie - Weather and Outdoor Chicks

The weather is a little chillier here in Tennessee, but we don’t put our chicks outside until they are fully feathered. Of course, my wife’s grandmother would buy 100 chickens, put them in the coop, and wish them good luck. :)

    Greetings from Tennessee!

Last time we picked up chickens from the hatchery, we brought home what we thought were 4 hens. Turns out 2 were roosters. There was a nice man that used them for 4-H projects. He was happy to take them from us.

    Greetings from Tennessee!

Thanks! It took us a while to tune it properly with OBS server. I use a NGINX server to stream out to both YouTube and Rumble. We hope to upgrade the cameras this summer.

    Greetings from Tennessee!

We are a small family farm in Northern Tennessee. Presently, we have 10 Speckled Sussex chickens and 2 Toulouse Geese. The geese presently sleep in the chicken run while the hens sleep in the hen house, but we will be building a goose house in May. We have owned chickens for 2 years, geese...
