    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

Yeah, pretty normal! I had one drake and four females; my Mallard lady rarely got love, and one of my Welsh Harlequin girls had a bare back neck! They do seem to pick favorites. If your ratio is off, I would definitely suggest adding more girls! ;) If you can't, you can also get rid of some...

Haha so, the chickens are Light Sussex chickens, not White Leghorns or Columbian Rocks. I finally asked my uncle, lol. Here are more pictures!

I think they're White Leghorns, but I have no idea. They also may not be pure. They're just for eggs and meat, so we don't care haha.

Thank you! Also, I said 4 but we have 5 hens haha. Six Leghorns all together. These guys are gonna be bred for larger chickens for food. These ones aren't necessarily for food(though healthy culls will be eaten) just eggs and breeding. I'm not sure how old they are. They aren't "mine" per say...

Just updating this review: The Welshies did start laying, and they laid extremely well! All of our Welsh hens went broody. All of my ducks have passed on(predator while we were fixing the fence), but I will absolutely be getting Welsh Harlequins again.

    Welsh Harlequin

Hi Neetabeamie! The color of the bill doesn't indicate the color of the bird. It can indicate gender, however, or it can simply be a "fault" if you show. To tell the color of a Welsh Harlequin, you look at the wing bar - the solid colored part on their wings. If it's a blue/green, the color is...

Simulated Natural Nest Incubation~Experiment #1 So it begins....

Hey Beekissed, I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I did try this method when I had my ducks! My hens got eaten by a bobcat while we were fixing the fence. They were all sitting on nests! So, I had a good bit of success until I sadly dropped something on the eggs(don't want to get into...

    Texas

TexasLisa, I'm near London, KY, about 2 hours away from Lexington. ChicKat, I will try, but the phone I use to get online isn't mine so I would have to ask permission to use her phone to take pictures. On the trip my (very expensive) camera broke. D: But she's a very generous person so it's...
