Help with giving a broody chicks

I have them in a brooder now. I’m going to move the brooder to the coop and put my broody in it tonight and give her the chicks after dark and be out before daylight to see what happens. If she does t take them I can always brood them myself and break her. This is my brooder set up

HELP PLEASE! Broken beak 8 weeks old!

Thanks all! I took him to the emergency vet but of course no one there knew how to fix it. He got some meloxicam and sub Q fluids to keep him hydrated until I can get to the avian vet in the morning.

    Early chick integration

@Mrs. K Do you have pics of your Wooly hen and run? That’s sounds intriguing but I’m such a visual person it would help me to see it. How do you attach the wool to the top and what keeps the hens from pecking it all off and eating/pooping on it?

    Early chick integration

Ok, I removed the brooding plate and turned off one of the window unit heaters in the shop. It will get colder in there tonight then they are used to but still have one heater on and the lamp in the brooder. The shop is 30 ft wide and 40 ft tall and metal so it gets cold in there. I really...

    Early chick integration

@rosemarythyme I can run an extension cord to the coop. And I can also start weaning them off heat in the shop asap. I will remove the brooder plate and turn off the heater in the shop and at that point they would only have the heat lamp. I have chicken wire and zip ties coming out my ears.

    Early chick integration

Hi Peeps! I am wanting to do the early chick integration method but I can’t wrap my head around how to make it work. I have four 3 week olds that I want to integrate with an existing flock of 8 hens and a rooster that are 1 year old. I read @rosemarythyme article but having trouble applying to...

    Blood Smeared Eggs

Nope, shells seem ok. I offer oyster on the side in addition to the feed. I mean I don’t have to smash them to break but they don’t just explode when I crack them either. Normal for my girls I would say.

    Blood Smeared Eggs

    Blood Smeared Eggs

Just for my piece of mind, can someone take a look here? I have an 11 month old girl that has layed 65 eggs so far (with only 1 or 2 being bloody) before going into molt and winter break. IF she molted it was a very soft molt cause I saw very few black feather. Since starting back she’s layed 5...

Why does safe-guard have an egg withdrawal time?

@castportpony Ok so I did it right just have to toss eggs for 2 weeks….or I can switch to the lower dose and not toss. I haven’t seen worms or had her tested since no one around me will do it, but she is thin and half bald so I am going to worm her and see if she gains some weight. Everyone on...

Why does safe-guard have an egg withdrawal time?

@casportpony I know this is an old thread but @Eggcessive told me a couple days ago that it is 1/4 ml per pound so for my 5.5 pound bird I just now gave her 1.3 mls and was going to to that for 4 more days. Did I just way over dose my hen?? Can I switch to the super small dose you mention...
