Review by '' on item '24 Egg Incubator- Self Turn , Digital Incuabtor for Poultry/ Ducks/ Quail. If You Are Looking for a'

Hi, I couldn't find much information on this 'bator from P & I but I bought it anyway because it was the right size for my humble needs. After a miserable failed hatch in my homemade styrofoam still air unit, I started looking for an automatic. I wanted an automatic turner and the ability...

Kind of confused on the light thing...

My girls started laying in October and kept laying all winter without any added light. However, I put their coop in the sunny part of the yard and I live in California. My preference is natural light and let the girls have a rest whenever they need one. Check with someone local to you and...

I thought this was an informative article. However, my family will likely never go back to store bought eggs. Link >>> http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/110560/eggs-grade-a-not-what-it-seems

Do eggs from various breeds taste differently ?

Hi Tri, I think that feed and freshness has more to do with the taste of eggs. The eggs from my girls they all taste the same, someone else may have anther opinion. --Larry

How to switch to a nipple waterer?

What you described is exactly how my flock learned and taught each other. At first I also wondered if they were getting enough water through just the nipples, but it is just that they don't waste as much water now. Chickens are curious so once one figures it out you can rest assured that they...

Hi Chris, I got mine at HMB Feed N Fuel in May and they're laying blue eggs nearly every day. They have dark blue?/black legs. Hope this helps, I'm also in the SF bay area. --Larry

Does anyone use the nipple water drinkers?

My girls took a few hours to figure it out and now love the nipples. I have them mounted to a 5 gallon bucket, pointed down at the ground by a few brass fittings. I clean it out and refill every 2-3 weeks so they have fresh water. The best part is that there is no poop in their water supply...

New to Chickens working on a coop design ...please give advise...

Nice design, JFWIW I use a 5 gallon bucket stacked with two watering nipples for my flock. The water stays clean and I only have to clean and refill the bucket every 2-3 weeks. My girls jump on the buckets and then perch 3 feet high in the right side of their run, so keep in mind that they can...

Nest boxs. What is the advantage to having outdoor access

Kind of what the other's have said, it's for easy access as you can see in my picture. When the neighbors babysit for us all they need to do is collect the eggs and not step in the poop. --Larry

    green potaotoes

Chickenteen, Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that green potatoes can have a high concentration of Solanine and are not recommended to eat. Dunno if they are safe for chickens. I just save them for seed potatoes for the next season. Good Luck, Larry

Post your Backyard Vrs. Store-bought egg pics

Size doesn't matter, Lucy's egg on the left is way more appetizing. Putting them side by side in the pan tells me the whole story. Our backyard chicken obsession is worth all the effort and is also a lot of fun. --Larry Momma to 2 EE's, 1BR, 2 LWW's

When should I expect my first egg??

I'm no eggspert but, we got our girls in May and the first started laying Octoeber 26th. The second started on November 15. Look for the comb to turn bright red and an increased interest in the nesting box. My guess is that you will have the thrill of your first eggs in a couple of weeks...
