I'm going to visit my husbands co-workers chickens at lunch (in 1 hour). Her chickens were attacked by two dogs. I'll be showing her how to clean the wounds and such.
I wanted to give her some rooster booster for the rest of her flock...just to give them a little boost after the stress of the...
Hi all-
As you've probably heard on national news- the SF Bay Oil spill has over 400 live oiled wild birds and counting. Although they have many volunteers to help- they lack experienced folks. I'm on the Humboldt County response Team (as a trained oiled bird rehaber) and I've been called...
My rescue "Big Red" almost died the other night! She's doing much better. What amazes me is that I thought something might be wrong a few days earlier, but I brushed it off as being a worry-wart. I had even told DH that I was considering putting her back in quaranteen because "something seemed...
First of all....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for getting the "mark forum as read" going. It really helps me a lot.
I have one further request on the subject...once you click a forum as read, it brings you back to that forum. Is there any way to make it go directly back to the index?
After...

I forgot to lock up the fowl last night and my broody runner duck disappeared (probably a fox!!!).
The eggs were all there and luke warm and I just happened to have a broody chicken who was sitting on "air", so I put the eggs next to her and she...
It's been a tough spring for me this year...obvious for those who are used to me coming on this board all the time who must be wondering if I fell off the face of the earth!
Ealier this year, we found out (by sheer luck) that my 19yo step son had a mass on his liver and he just had it...
I started a thread in the swap listings..but thought it might be better here
My understanding is that chickenstock is a gathering of us Back Yard Chickeners.....that being said....

I inherited a web site I'm trying to update...but it's not all working. It's a non-profit and we can't find anyone to work on it for us...so here I am trying to figure it out.
The thing I can't figure out is on the left menu frame, there are several items...when you put your cursor on them, a...

There was a success story on trapping a weasel/mink with a tunnel trap and Lydlo said it would be ok to post it as a resource on the BYC web site (maybe without the dead mink pic)

I've never had a chicken with frostbite and I know vaseline is used as a preventative and understand that theory.
Then at somepoint in the last few days, it dawned on me that frostbite has been described as a type of burn and then my brain goes for a loop and says for burns you shouldn't...
