    Moxivet Plus

Hi! Can I ask where you found this dose info? Did you ask the company / shop selling it? I want to try this product but can’t find any dose information for chickens anywhere online aside from your post and I’m afraid of overdosing my birds. Also if you’ve used it before what was your experience...

    This is blue right?

This is the rooster I mentioned if anyone can tell if he’s paint or splash also. The last pic he’s standing next to my splash hen. He looks rough in these because he’s a little ugly but also was getting over fowl pox and a possum bite (he’s healed from both since then 🙏)

    This is blue right?

First two pics I took just now. He hatched 10/26 I think so he’s about 2 weeks old. I assume he’s blue and he’s going to fully turn the dark blue his wing feathers are coming in as right? The contrast is just so extreme it’s throwing me off but maybe that’s normal. Moms a splash silkie and I...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

I just candled again and the embryo has not made it, stopped moving and veins drained and pooled. Rip 😞 Should I open it up and report back to see if it was actually twins or just some other anomaly?

    Hello fellow chicken enthusiasts

LOL 🤣 I don’t think your point of view on them is too uncommon. What can I say I am their mother and I think they’re just adorable, but that checks out doesn’t it 😂 Thanks for the link I shall check it out! 😊

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

I agree, and the other eggs in the same incubator all look how you described, at the correct level of development. I’ll check on the suspicious egg again over the next few days to see if it dies or develops more, for sure. Would be lovely if he keeps developing and I get a miracle hatch but I’m...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thank you for explaining! That makes a lot of sense, I’ll start counting it that way for future hatchings. I’m going to get some more thermometers though and check my incubator for hot or cold spots cause I can’t count that out as a possibility or at least a factor. And yes I’m not sure, but...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thanks. It’s not dead but appreciate the sentiment. I’m unsure if you read any of my responses to some of the other replies, but I stated it was moving around vigorously before I took the video. It’s pretty easy to tell the difference between the movement of a live embryo squirming around and a...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

No you’re right they aren’t moving that much in the video. Right when I took them out of the incubator they were both wiggling around pretty vigorously, one more than the other though. I didn’t have the egg out very long but they seemed to slow down a lot when I was taking the video 😅 I’ve been...

    Hello fellow chicken enthusiasts

Hi! 30 year old Florida lady here 🐊🫡 I’m a long time lurker and recently started posting, I kept forgetting to do an introduction. I’ve got a flock of silkies & showgirls + one australorp, and one silkie x bantam cochin cross house chicken roo. Silkies are my favorite, I enjoy reading about...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

I added a video you can see what’s going on better in there. And I mentioned this in a previous reply to someone but I counted the day I put them in 10/17 as day 1 as I did so around 5am I believe.. it’s currently 3:45am on 11/1 so in about an hour they’ll have been in there exactly 16 days. If...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thank you! I added a video to my original post. Hopefully if this is a double embryo egg it falls in that .1% but I’ll try not to get my hopes up especially considering it seems to be developing a little slower than the rest.

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thank you for all of this! So I was counting them as being on (almost) day 16 because I started incubating them the early morning of 10/17, and when I googled if you’re supposed to count the day you put them in or not, the first thing I saw was that you count that day as day 1 if you put them...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

*Edited to add a video of egg in question and a photo of one of the other eggs in the incubator to show how much farther along the other eggs look (third photo) Ok so I started incubating my silkie eggs 10/17 so they are about to be on day 16. Silkies tend to start hatching a bit early for me...

Are hens genetically predisposed to laying eggs of a certain sex?

So, anyone know if a hens genetics will cause her to lay more male or female eggs? If I’m hatching out a disproportionate number of female chicks is that just purely coincidence or is something else possibly causing this like environmental factors etc. ~~ My rooster is a sexlink chocolate...

    Chocolate splash silkies?

Sorry if this has been asked or answered but I couldn’t find it. How do you go about getting chocolate or mauve splash? I have a (I think sexlink but not 100% sure) chocolate roo and splash hens. All I’ve seen is choc x splash give you either mauve or blue chicks, no splashes, is this correct...
