Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

Respectfully.. Australia had alot of land when rabbits were introduced. Rabbits can't be trusted to go feral. Just wanted to make sure you know how fast they dig. I only had that experience because I had to leave a doe in a room of the barn while rearranging cages.

I've seen a rabbit dig a ten foot hole, nearly a foot diameter, in 2 or 3 hours. I don't trust rabbits on the ground. We have too much wild rabbits here as well that pass on diseases. And ticks.

Thanks for sharing that image! Just what I needed! There is something similar for sheep but I haven't seen this before.

I would say absolutely no to flemish giants for meat rabbits. I had two and they were out-eating my dairy goats. Absolutely not exaggerated. I had two goats I was milking at the same time and the flemish were acting starved and I upped their pellets all the way to a full scoop each, same scoop...

Like climbing inside a big beast to survive a blizzard 😂 I grew up with dairy goats. You learn how to pour without spilling! Down in the teens or negatives pouring milk replacer from jugs into soda bottles to bottle feed kids. With ten of them butting and jumping on you excitedly to get their...

Thanks from me too! I never would have thought of that! Also interesting following the thread. I have a mix of things I'm going to broadcasting for the sheep but the chickens will follow in the rotation. I'm curious how they do with grazed cover crop residue versus just mixed grass pasture...

Just caught back up. Looks like some nice progress. Makes me even more excited for my own project! With your hatching a dozen at a time seems like it works well for you. I'm considering doing that, just with more than a dozen, but being north I don't know how well it will work here. Brooder...

Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

Just caught up on this thread. Very interesting I will be following along as well. I have a bunch of pantry emptiers at the moment, until I butcher most of the meaties and figure out male or female on the rest. I'll be breeding for dual purpose and not caring much yet of the colors they end up...
