Ducks here have been breeding a few months already. Still have two scary cat gentlemen, and only one hen that's getting the beginning of a love mark on her head. Chickens already have had to be in time outs and shelters because they're breeding so aggressively

Interesting. People keep saying ducks are like that. Apart from a single scovy hen, none of my two flocks are anything but polite to each other and chickens.

First week of May

7 assorted calls and 7 assorted runners (2 male, 5 female). Might add a magpie male if I can after I get home though for my mixed pen

All I know is record for chickens for me was about 8 months before I knew if a specific one was a male or female. Of course, it was a male. Wonder if I'll get any pairs of colors in my coming order. Hoping for a penciled pair

The only spot I'd check out are the spots on the webbing that look like small chicken flesh. Mine all have the ridges on their toes, pretty sure it's just their knuckles. The skin is super thin too and they have high body temps, which both make veins more visible

As long as they're not pecking or self plucking and not subdued, I consider them content if not actually happy

I'm no help for names. The number of themes I've had broken is probably close to every single one. I just let birds name themselves now.
