BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

This is my second year using Premier 1 heat plates. I love them and so do the chicks! I'll never go back to using a dangerous heat lamp. I have several of the smaller sized ones for my indoor brooders and 1 of the larger ones in my outdoor brooder. I also purchased the covers and used them...

Mine came from Costco, too! I cut away the recessed squares on the lid and put hardware cloth on the lid to keep chicks from escaping and to keep my dog & cat from getting in. With my newest & biggest plastic bin, we just cut 2 big areas on the lid and covered the opening with hardware cloth...

With only 4 chicks, it might last 2 weeks! I have one just like this that I use as a first brooder for the first 4-7 days depending on how many chicks I have. I have had up to 20 chicks in there but they have graduated into a larger bin at 4 days. I like having a smaller brooder for the...

It would depend on how big of a tank you use and how long you plan on them being in it. I have a 4 ft one with a welded wire lid that DH built for it. I start my chicks off in a smaller plastic bin for the first week then move them into the larger metal tank. I had a group of 6 chicks in it...

Very nice! You could also sell the directions w/supply list! I would be interested in that! :-)

Nice looking brooder! I would recommend that you double secure your lamp and don't count on only the clamp. I have always wired my brooder lamp in addition to the clamp because I have had problems with the clamp coming off when I accidentally bump the light. Gotta keep those cute little...
