How exciting for outside adventures! I just came back inside from letting my littles have their first short run outside of the grow out pen.

May batch finally finished. Of 20-30 only 9 have made it this far. 4 had internally pipped and passed. The others werent formed right. And one of the 9 that did make it is in a chick chair learning how to use his feet properly.

I have a gender fluid cockerel. This little guy from my april hatch started with yellow/orange feet and kept that color until just recently when he decided to take on the dark leg coloring of his sisters. (Leg color was a sex link for this batch). He is the only one to have two colored legs for now.
Can eggs be added to an incubation set thats already 10 days in? I feel like I've heard it done before. Just not sure not sure how the higher humidty for hatch affects the ones still setting.

The outside pen doesn't have a heat source, so I've been waiting for a warm, dry day when i knew the elements would be fine for them.

Well, i had the boys and girls in separate brooders. Apparently they decided they were done with that. Woke up to all but three of the girls in the boys brooder. Three weeks old and already causing trouble.
I think I'll be putting in about 40 rhode island red x ee eggs in the next week.
May i ask, where do most of you get your fowl leg bands from? I want to order some but am not sure where the best place is. My local farm store only has size 9 and 11.
