Nice big brooder for 6 chicks @Coop-de-coop !
Curious what the temp is on the floor under the lamp?
Concerned about the shape of the 'cave'....long and narrow with only one opening.
Might want to at least pull the far end away from the wall.
Or go flat for more space and egress...
Mine is raised....up on some crates, definitely helps the back.
Door on top of brooder or.....?
1/4" HC won't let many poops thru. 1/2" would, but hard on their feet.

@GinGia what are 'clip heaters'?
That post is 13 years old, and member hasn't been around for 6 years, so you won't likely get an answer from them.
Tote and heat lamps often not a good mix.
Yes, better...what's the temp on the brooder floor away from the lamp?
The window, and observer, are great. :)
Gonna need a lid on that soon tho, so they don't jump fly out.
COuld ver y well be so @RubenRO
Is that a full on 250W heat lamp?
If so, it's way too big for that tiny tote.
They are going to grow out of that tote very quickly.
Here's my notes on chick heat, hope something in there might help:
They need to be pretty warm(~85-90F on the brooder floor...
Thanks for measuring, good size for a brooder.
Most those lights are 10-12", I used that for 'scale'.
Designing equipment for a couple decades gave me a pretty good eye. ;)
They won't fit in there for long....is the coop ready to go?
Check your heat on the floor of brooder, it doesn't look like they can get away from it to regulate. Over-heating is one of the most common chicks raising issues.
