From what I have gathered about breeding is, father to daughter and mother to son are perfectly fine. Breeding brother to sister isn't too good, but some people do it if they are trying to keep certain traits within their line. But Im not 100% positive.
Nah he looks fine. His frostbite isn't too bad. You should see my Cream Legbar rooster, he has severe frostbite on his comb we have had horrible temps this winter. He will lose all his tips and half his blade.
Your JB would be better off staying outside in the coop with the others. The temp...
Most likely his black tips will fall off, they do not grow back. I find heat lamps in coops does more harm than good. Heat and then the chickens breathing causes moisture. Last year I added a heatlamp to the bantam coop and all 3 roosters got frostbite, 2 lost the tips of the combs. This year I...
I have Japanese Bantams and other small bantams and our winters get vicious. We have times when we have single digits even zero degrees for a few days at a time. We just had a few days of negative temps a few nights went as low as neg 30 with the windchill. I do not supply heat to my coops, all...
Yes she is a Black Tailed Buff Japanese Bantam. And she is definitely a she. If she is not laying eggs yet it looks like she might soon. She is very pretty.
I believe if it gets the lethal gene it will die around day 17 or 18 and it cant be saved. If however your have a chick that has piped its egg and stays that way for longer that a day or starts hatching with noticable problems and needs help then that is up to you. Some help even with the...
Hmm hard to tell with out adult comparison But I would guess the small one is 6-8weeks ish and the bigger one 12-14 weeks ish(maybe a little older). That is just a guess though.
Hatching Japanese Bantam eggs is like hatching any other chicken egg. hovabator will be auto set at 100 degrees(runs about 99.6) humidity is up to you depends on how you like to incubate so dry hatch other add water. Regular egg racks work just fine for these eggs and lockdown is also the same...
I wish mine were like that. I have 3 adults three 7/8week olds and two 3 week olds. All are sweet as can be but all are spooked very easy and skittish they dont like to be picked up much. We do love and snuggle them often but its not their favorite pass time lol.
Alot of times brothers raised together as chicks will do ok together. I raised 3 JB roosters together and they were awesome with each other. It all depends on their personality but most likely they can be ok together.
These are my new Japanese Bantams I hatched from my own flock. The parents look to be gray but the chicks hatched 4 different colors. So they arent true grays. Any Idea what the babies may end up looking like.
I cant remember if I posted these pics of my Japanese but ere are a few updated pics taken last month. (just went back and looked through the images and I did post them already sorry for the repost)
