Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

Here's another vote or good word for bielefelders. Butchered my bielefelder mixes Saturday at not quite 17 weeks. Not competing with Big Fatty though. Live weights: 5.2, 5.2, 5.4, 5.4, 5.6. Processed weights: 3.3, 3.6, 3.8, 3.8, 4. Plus 1 lb of giblets and 1lb of chicken feet...

Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

Successfully weighed all 14 of my chickens tonight! Still pretty impressed with the Bielefelder x RIR cockerels. 11.5 weeks old and they weigh 3.2 lbs, 3.4lbs, and 3.8 lbs. (51.2-60.8 ounces). The largest especially seems to be growing well. Pullet is 3lbs. Thoughts on their weights? I don't...

Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

I know you aren't looking to add any breeds, but I think I accidentally created something close to what you're looking for in pattern, and relatively fast growing. Bielefelder x RIR. 10 weeks and they got some heft to them - significantly more than the same aged Bielefelder x Barred rock. Should...
