    Mystery Bantam Chick!

My uncle gifted me 5 bantam chicks yesterday, the rest I'm fairly sure are sebright and welsummer, but this one has me stumped. It doesn't look much like any bantam chicks I'm aware of. The closest I could guess is buff Brahma. Any ideas?

Is it to early to tell the breed of my chick?

(I only got one photo then went to work sorry) He’s a bantam with a yellow head and grey body. Feathered feet. Maybe one of your chickens looked like him when they were a chick?

Any idea what breed this young chick is?

In August we bought some 6 week old chicks that were marked down at Tractor Supply. 5 barred rock and 5 that we have no idea what they are. They are beautiful and all I know is they are supposed to be brown egg layers. Attaching 2 photos. It's the red and black one in the front in the first...

What color would you say these chicks are? Blue or Lavender?

I have both blue and lavender genetics in my flock. As well as mottling/mille fleur (porcelain). I know it’s hard at this stage and I went through it once before with my now blue hen. I just want people’s best guesses 🙂 I’m too impatient to wait for them to grow out to guess hahaha

What sort of chick is this?

My neighbor decided to incubate some of his chickens eggs a day after his rooster, an Old English Gamecock, was killed by a fox. The possible “moms” are: Cinnamon Queen, Barred Rock, Easter Egger. Can anyone id these?

Hi everyone! Meet my little 0.50 flock!

It is very nice to be here! I have always loved chickens, and had them when I was a child. I am finally getting my own backyard flock and cannot be happier. I ended up with my ladies a little sooner than I had hoped (only by a couple weeks) because they are little escape artists! I went to the...

    Greetings from Connecticut!

I'm so happy to have found this forum - reminds me of when I had newborns (human, that is) and scoured the internet for all my crazy questions! This place seems to have all the answers for my feathered newborns (2 weeks old yesterday). My family and I are new to chickens. We've spent a while...

Jersey Giants? Barred Rock? I'm not sure on a couple. Pullets or Roos?

I ordered 5 straight run Black Jersey Giants from the local feed store, which ordered from Welp, I believe they said. Got them on May 21, so they're just over 4 weeks old. They all looked pretty much the same when we got them, but as they got their feathers in, one started looking much...

    Bantam identification

3 of the chicks we picked up a few weeks ago were from Tractor Supply: assorted Bantams. Tried to grab a couple decent pics of them(chicks are hard to get pics of, lol). The kids and I have had a lot of fun researching and guessing what they are. Wondering if anyone might know what type they...

    Mystery Chicks

I ordered hatching eggs that were French Black Copper Maran and received those plus two “bonus” eggs. They were lighter brown and speckled. The two with the chipmunk-like stripes are my “mystery” chicks and are smaller than all of the others, (two Maran and one Lavender Orpington and one from my...

    Identifying chicks

I have some new hatchlings, one is Lavender Orpington, one is a cross between my Blue Laced Wyandotte roo and Black Australorp hen, two are French Black Copper Maran, and two were “gifted” to me and are a surprise. I’m guessing as to what they are, and looking for opinions. Please and thank you!

I was told these baby chicks were all ameraucana chicks.... However I'm not so sure... They were from tractor supply. What do you think they are? There I believe 2 sets of different breeds. The bigger chicks look the same and the smaller chicks look all alike. PS - Sorry if the pictures are...

    Breed identification pictures

Does anyone know where I can obtain pictures of the different breeds of chicks I have, at multiple stages? I am finding 1-day-old chick pictures and adult pictures, nothing in-between. I'm trying to figure out who is who as they grow since I seem to have ordered multiple breeds that look so...
