Thank you very much! I set 18 coturnix that I bought from a homesteader down the hill from me! I bought 24 but it seemed pretty full at 18. I just have a little Janoel. Put it downstairs where the temperature stays pretty steady.

The California Quails are now 8 weeks old and can be sexed, there is two boys and five girls!

Now just to find them all new homes!

How hard do you find them to raise? I've read mixed reviews from not hard to extremely difficult

I personally haven’t found them any more difficult than chicken chicks or other quail chicks.

I held a few often when they were very young but eventually I just pretty much left the chicks to it, give them what they needed and they are thriving. Of course with my very hands off approach they’ve ended up practically wild but we hatched them with the intention of them being to go in big aviaries.

Got another 12 in the incubator as we speak!

I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamed that someone had given me 22 duck eggs (but they were the size of quail eggs) and they all hatched, but for some reason I didn't have them in a brooder and was trying to hold them all. The duck chicks in my dream were the size of quail chicks too.
