I usually check there wings. We bought 4 buff orpington straight run chicks. They are about 5 - 6 weeks old. We have 1 roo and 3 hens so far.

I did check feathers early too—though I know not all breeds are feather sexed.
I found this website regarding Cochins & compared my chick then.

1, 4, 5, & 7 are now crowing! The blue Silkie (7th photo) started crowing along with the other three this morning.
