I have 15 chicks, 5 of which are Rhode Island Reds. I was told the chicks were all about 1 day old when I purchased them on the 7th of May, making them just over 2 weeks old now. 4 of the 5 seem to be developing just fine, with no problems. The last one, however is not. The one seems to be in perfect health, and is about the same size as the others, but it's not developing feathers like the others. It has most of its wing feathers, but not all, very tiny tail feathers, and that's it. The other chicks have all their wing feathers in, tail feathers, and are starting to get feathers in the neck as well. Could there be an underling condition? Or is this something that can just happen sometimes? I'm including photos. The first 2 photos are of one of the normal chicks, for comparison. The rest are of the slow grower chick.

As long as it is eating, drinking, its poop looks normal and is otherwise acting normal, I would say it is ok. Some chicks do develop faster than others. I've had chicks where some will have a good jump on their tail feathers being in and another will barely have a nub started. You'd swear there was a week or so difference in age but there wasn't.

Thank you so much for the reply. I appreciate it. The chick does seem to be healthy in every other aspect. I guess it's just a slow grower.
