I posted yesterday about my very poorly ex battery hen Edith. She was worse today so I took her to the emergency vet as it’s a bank holiday. They said they would x ray and scan her to check for tumours, stuck eggs or any blockage.

All was clear and they have said she has a severe infection. However since I picked her up she’s been completely out of it she’s just got her eyes shut lying down, the vet said to expect her to be like this but for how long ? Has anybody any experience with birds after anaesthetic? She had the tests about 4 hours ago. Photo attached is her when I picked her up 3 hours ago and she still looks like this. Is this normal ?

Anaesthesia recovery is different for every animal just like with people. It can take 12-24 hours for the drug to fully leave the system not to mention birds are much more sensitive to drugs than most animals.
