I've got one chick in the brooder box with consistent pasty butt. I am finding myself soaking her backside and putting oil on her vent every other day. No other chicks have this problem. She is energetic, eats, drinks but seems a little smaller compared to the other ladies of the same breed. They are a week old

Is she getting chilled?

Some chicks seem to have a chronic problem for a little while. Sounds like she's eating/drinking and active.

Clean her well, make sure you dry her well with a hair dryer. Application of oil/ointment is the way to go.

If it is related to stress, then catching a chill could be the stressor. As she feathers out it should stop being a problem.

Good for you, taking care of her poor little vent.

my chick had that too but i switched to medicated feed which helped a lot and gave her chick grit. i also used a warm wet wash cloth and soaked her but and carefully wiped it off.
