Deaths are tough to get over. It becomes very personal, I understand this. I have experienced many deaths from various causes including active duty. Instead of facing the horrors of the issue, I make silly statements and jokes to cover up what my mind is racing through. I would give a therapist a reason to seek therapy!
Sorry, that’s just me.
We understand.

Weekly Synopsis Feb 24 to Mar 2

First off an apology for any errors - I am extraordinarily tech challenged this week and keep missing stuff!

Last week's synopsis is available here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27516868

This week many of us got very interested in Chicken colors and the genetic differences (blue, lavender etc.). As well as some really educational posts, many of us used it as an excuse to post pictures of our lovely chickens as examples of particular colors.
:love

I enjoyed seeing all the Blue, Lavender, and other color ladies and while I don't want to crow about it (see what I did there?!) I would say I am beginning to get the hang of blue and lavender!

In Chicken News....

@BY Bob
Has another layer coming off winter break
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27517552

He also shared that there was 'an incident' at Fluffy Butt Acres. He tried to tell us that everyone was OK - but we worried anyway about his ladies until he told us the details of what had happened. Turns out it is @BY Bob we need to worry about!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27535030

Bob also tried to teach us about pecking order using this video of cabbage eating at FBA. You will notice that Bob himself never gets to try the cabbage. And after the incident, are you surprised?!

@BeastBaby
Has a poorly hen named Albert - @ManueB weighed in with some helpful reminders for us all regarding poorly chickens and it looks like maybe Albert is feeling a bit better, but there is definitely something not right with her - hope she recovers soon.

@Ponypoor
Is continuing her long list of breeds she may add this year. I am now totally confused and it is possible she is too!
In addition to prior lists, this week she added: Midnight Majesty Marans, Exchequer Leghorns, Light Brahmas, Crested Cream Legbars, Dark Brahmas, Buff Brahmas, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Lavender Orpingtons, Speckled Suspects, Buff Orpingtons
Or maybe just hatched Silkies

@RoyalChick (that's me) got all excited that her flock were taking integration to the next level by almost all roosting together. Minutes after the picture was taken, they changed their minds and moved elsewhere!

That is all I have folk - I hope the links work and if they do it is a miracle as it is the only technology that has worked for me. Have a wonderful weekend.
So grateful for the small number of links per person!

Cabbage Dominance

Figuring out a pecking order can be difficult. It takes a lot of observation. I have an example for everyone.

Today I put out a cabbage as part of my "Bribe My Way Out of the Doghouse" strategy. I then sat back and watched on the camera as they ate some.

From this video you should be able to place everyone but Hattie into a relative pecking order. Watch and see if you can find the clues as to who ranks where.

I watched again. Was the Phyllis thing about where she aims/lands her pecks?
