Hi all! Question... I want to put my 6-week old chicks into the coop with my single 1 year old hen. This may be a silly question, but how do I handle the 2 types of food they need? Will the babies just gravitate to their food and the mama hen eat her usual food. Is it a problem if they end up eating both?

You can just give the starter/grower the chicks are on, it won't hurt your hen at all! Many many people give that to their adult flocks, since they'll have roosters and non-laying hens that don't need the extra calcium from the layer feed. Put some oyster shell on the side for your hen to pick from and get calcium when she needs it.

Thank you! I've found advice on this forum to be invaluable.
