I would bet it's lack of oil and not fatness. Fat actually would help him float.

LOL,

he's not so much sinking as he is standing on the bottom, he just has to work a lot harder at staying on top than the others do and when he gets frustrated he just stands on the bottom staring at the others.

But, like I said, today he seems much more boyant than before and has since developed a few more feathers on his belly.
I think his boyancy is starting to pick-up the more feathers he grows so I'm not worried really.

It was just really funny that first time when he couldn't seem to keep his butt above water
