Injured rooster

I need some advice from you seasoned chicken keepers. I noticed my first-in-command rooster was limping, so I inspected the offending foot. It appears to be normal, except the pad is swollen. I saw no indication of bumblefoot, no cuts, no tenderness when bending foot (would he show tenderness, I don't know?). It has been a couple weeks, and he does not appear to be getting better. I have separated him from the flock, as he was getting picked on by second in command rooster. Not sure what to do besides let him rest.

Thoughts? In pics, the injured foot is second.

Definitely swollen, soak his feet in warm Epson salt bath for 30 minutes. Message his feet to prevent blood from pooling in the swollen areas.

Looks like Frostbite. Handling and rubbing the tissue can damage it more.
Likely he may lose a few toes, time will tell.

I'm pretty sure what you are seeing is dirt, not frostbite. Very muddy around here. But I will look at it again. I can tell you he got frostbite on his comb, lost some of it and will likely lose more. It got down to -10 here back in December.

Is there anything to do if it is frostbite?

Oh. Well, if it's dirt, can you wash off his feet really well, then repost some current photos?

I went to wash off his feet (which wasn't going to be easy, my chickens are not tame at all) and they were actually really clean already, just from being by himself. I read those frostbite posts, and I really didn't see any indication. I didn't take a pic of the bottom, but his foot bad is even more swollen now, into his toes, but no indicationof injury. Below are some pics of the top.

The reason I don't think it is frostbite is we haven't had super cold Temps since back during Christmas, and he has only been this way for a couple weeks.

See how it looks swollen up into his back tendon there? Still not walking on it, and nothing feels broken.

Here are some more pics of the bottom of his foot. Maybe those two toes could be frostbite? The one on the left, some of the dark stuff at the bottom flaked off when I rubbed on it.

He's slowly losing his toes due to something. Very likely frostbite. It can take time for loss of digits.

Doesn't look like the feet or toes are infected, so I'd continue caring for him like you are.

Thanks, that's what I thought too. Hopefully he won't have much problem walking or mounting after he gets through this ordeal. And hopefully the other rooster won't cause problems with him either.

He hasn't lost one yet. Hoping the swelling goes down soon.
