Is this a Black Australorp?

Looking at pictures of baby chicks on google of various breeds of black chickens. It appears that they can vary a lot in color....some being a mix of black and lots of yellow and other chicks being almost totally black. So I think it could be an Australorp too even though it doesn't look like a typical australorp chick. I did come across a pic of a Black Copper Maran chick that looked similar to your chick.

Is the chick from a hatchery?

Nope our meyer meal maker was a barred rock

My Meyer Meal Maker was a Barred Rock too... at least that is what we think so far... but my Black Australorp definitely looks different than you chick.. I hope you have a black marin... that would be cool.
