I love Charlois

They r really pretty. We just have not had a good experience with them. They r wild and goofy but it could be the lineage in them. But they have the cutest calves!!!

Just the one! It had just the eraser sized hole for over 24 hours. Letting him dry off tonight. Hopefully he encourages others to pip, but we'll see.

He comes running toward the side of the incubator the kids are standing on when they make those chicken noises LOL

May I just say the Minnesota thread is my favorite thread on BYC.

First winter with young chickens was scary. Lost one right away when it was still fall. Otherwise everything went well. My avatar is my coop. Added to a old one.






























I am having problems with some of the eggs. I posted it here.

HELP..


The turkey egg has made no progress in the last 15 -16 hours.

I can see it moving in there. I hear it. The hole is still eraser sized.


Do I do a turkey C-section now??

Let Mother nature do her thing. It may be cutting away the inner membrane which looks like nothing is happening. Helping a chick or poult or duckling out of the egg just makes it weaker. It has to struggle to be strong. I know it is hard to leave it alone, but you are doing it more good by doing so.

I did not see this Minnie until we had done the deed.

I think in this case we did ok. the membrane was drying out on him. My DW talked me into her helping him. My hands are too big a clumsy.


I cannot get the humidity up. I am only at 54% and I just added water to the sponge. I have been hovering under 50.

He is peeping away in there. I have another one that externally pipped.


I really debated hard because they are 2 days early. but glad she did it because of all dry he was...

Try not to be too disappointed in me Minnie
