One of my hens has lost a chunk of feathers on her back thanks to our rooster. The rooster is now out of the picture, but there’s a 2-3’ circle of fully exposed skin on her back and it is FRIGID here in the northeast. -10° this morning. Her back is red, understandably, and is most definitely getting frostbit poor thing. How do I help her? I thought about a chicken saddle as a protective layer, but also read it’s harder for chickens to stay warm because they can’t fluff their feathers as well. Thanks in advance!

Do you have any pics? Frostbite doesn't happen due to exposed skin. All chickens have combs and that is literally exposed skin.
