Hello! First time chicken girl here so I’m not sure what is normal and what may need adjusted in my girls diet, if anything at all.

I have a mix of 15 girls that I’ve raised from chicks. They were born the end of February. I’ve been feeding them Kalmbach Organic Layer Pellets for a couple months now (which says it can be the sole source of food for layers). This morning, I went out and found an eggish like thing in one of the nesting boxes??? See picture.

My question is, is this normal for a first egg? If not, do I need to supplement with oyster shells? It was a pale, soft, empty thing with a hole in it. Not sure if she pecked it or what.

Any information is so much appreciated!

I'd call that a jelly egg. It's normal for a pullet's first few eggs to be somewhat strange, but providing oyster shell free choice as @Ninjasquirrel suggests can be a helpful calcium boost for stronger shells. Hens will take a little if they need it and ignore it if they don't.
