My two surprise chicks have arrived. They’re about 4 weeks now. I have some ideas on breed but would love some supportive confirmation. I have NO clue about the genders as I have never owned these breeds.

I think my first chick is a Columbian Wyandotte. I owned some Silver Wyandottes before and only one had a rose comb. Looking back on photos of her at the same age, her rose comb wasn’t nearly as big as this ones. But I realize maybe I’m overthinking it.

I suspect the second chick is a Buff Brahma, maybe even a Buff Brahma Bantam. I have no experience with either breed. The chick is still very fluffy. Very slow tail development, and has now started its shoulder wing and majority of wing growth. No idea on sex either.

Yep!! The second ones a buff brahma!! And its to early to tell genders. I would wait until they are much older. Especially with the brahma.

Thank you. I was suspicious about the Brahma as a week old chick. The wing pattern looked male and they were tiny until last week. We call it Little Wing. But if you say wait, wait I shall.

First looks like a cockerel, wait on the second. The first is not a Wyandotte, most likely a Silver Lakenvelder! I agree that the second is a Buff Brahma
Wow, my mind is blown. I hadn't even considered the Lakenvelders! And it fits! Here's a glimpse of him/her at the first week.
