I got sucked into the chicken craze by being around some cuties for a while. ( I had some many many years ago when we first moved to Texas) I bought Cochin bantam chicks almost 2 years ago and have found that only one is a true Cochin bantam. The rooster has been identified as a Satin, I hadn’t ever heard of that before. And the other 2 are some mix, they have a bouffant hat but the same tail as the Cochin. When one hen insisted on setting on eggs for weeks I finally let her but bought some buff Polish eggs. She abandoned and ate some eggs, she might not have been the culprit. But we raised two of the polish from the last week of incubation. Even though Polish are not supposed to set too often I have one that I think is determined. In the next few days I will decide if I will give her back some eggs. I love reading all the messages here. Oh I have 4 partridge rock babies right now as I had needed to put some babies under a hen who only hatched 1 baby.
