Hi! I'm new to BackYard Chickens.
I've raised chicken for years now, but I am wanting to learn more about different breeds. I am very interested in the Black Copper Marans and the Olive Layers. I love the dark chocolate and olive look of the eggs. I am thinking seriously thinking about raising them and selling them. But I need to find out where I can buy Black Copper Marans that lay between 5-9 on the color chart. If anyone can help me with the best place to buy such birds I would forever be grateful.

Hi, welcome to the group. You're best bet is probably to go to your state group for local recommendations.

I would think not all lay eggs of the 5-9 color. Your best bet would be to buy a laying hen that is laying the darker color. Not something you can guarantee with a young pullet.

A couple of years ago, there was a chicken breed focus series and the Marans were part of that. Even if breeders aren't mentioned, you could find out more information on them (and perhaps which members raise them):
