Hi Guys and Gals,

So this information was brought to my attention by a member of the local FB group. I verified it with a cross reference to the Paulding County extension service. My search of Ohio Poultry Asso. and Ohio State Extension site came up empty.

So the Ohio Poultry Asso. has notified folks that due to a shortage of vaccine there will only be one class this year for pullorum testers. Also as per the State Veterinarian, birds will not be tested at exhibition shows, county or state fairs for 2020.

Will this affect your decision to go to these events? Has anybody from other states had similar notifications?

I'm in MO and we haven't had an issue that I know of but I have heard of problems with antigen availability. I think Texas was one of those.
I have mixed thoughts on that. If people are coming from a state or states where P-T doesn't currently exist it may not be a problem. Being NPIP doesn't guarantee any of those birds are free of other virulent diseases. That's why I don't show.
