--So this might be a bit odd, I have a tractor supply coop (starter coop) with my 5 girls all roughly 1year old now.
--I built a new coop 8x4x4.
--I picked up 8 chic's about 5weeks ago, they are starting to get big

the end goal is get all 13 chic's to the new larger coop, I'm not sure which is the best way to approach this. I've read just dumping them all together is probably not a good idea.

option#1
move old girls to new coop, chic's to tractor supply smaller coop... then chic's to new coop after some free range time to meet

option#2
move new chic's to new coop, then introduce the old girls to new coop at a bit later time, after free range time to meet

option#3
?

thanks for any suggestions.

I was just about to ask the same question. I have 4 one year old hens in an old coop, and have 4 chicks that will be ready to move out as the new coop is finished in a couple weeks. Who should get dibs on the new coop while the outside meetup process happens over a couple weeks?
