but I'd also encourage her natural instinct to eat on her own too.
This will also help her eating and drinking on her own as they are little monkey see monkey do.If possible, have her with or near the others so she is somewhat part of the group. You will have to monitor for bullying.
I thought so too!!She is PRECIOUS
I have a few cross beaks they are my favorites the milli I just discovered having it, but none of these chicks need help except a trim. There is a Crossbeak support group somewhere, either FB or another platform in case you haven't checked that yet. My crossbeak, Blanche, will be 2 in May. She has both eyes in good working order and is always in everyone's business trying to run operations at the barn!
Good advice re: chicken feed mash in a deep dish being available. Also a waterer with a wide enough tray; some are very skinny, hard to get beaks into. I take Blanche to my vet roughly every two months to get her beak gently trimmed with a dremel tool. As Mildred gets older you'll be able to see her beak structure better and to see any changes that may take place that might require some shaping.
I had a Mildred, too. My Dominique hen who was always a bit frail and little, My Little Chicken. Good luck with your Mildred.
