6 silkie eggs from stock I bought from a show breeder. The ones I bought have still have flaws, but at least they are proper SOP colors and for the most part have a tad better conformation than my first group of silkies. It's a black over blacks and splashes, so I'm super curious to see what shade blue comes out!!!
The cockerel is very sweet, he showed them the oyster shell right away and got them all to try it. They surprised me with an egg so I hurried and added a little oyster shell dish, and he went right over and made a big fuss about it and it totally worked. It was so cute. What he lacks toward the SOP he makes up for with perfect behavior. I have another cockerel from the same breeder who will not get a chance to provide me with offspring, he is not a nice boy.
The eggs from Buck's pen are similarly from a Splash male over Black females, so it'll be interesting to see the shades of Blue that come from that. I primarily chose to go that route because I'm suspicious of some of those girls being dark Blue, so if any chicks hatch out Splash instead of just Blue, then I'll both know that that is the case and be able to cull out dark blue genes that way by not keeping any resulting Splash offspring. 
Yeah, Buck is probably not what I'd categorize as sweet, he's a bit brash if anything, but he does make sure the girls know any time there's a goodie in the pen, even if it's just some pellets that spilled out of their feeder. 
The important part to me is that he's not overly rough with them, nor is he aggressive toward me (though he has had a couple moments where I wondered if he was going to be!).
All I know is that Amaretto was not a good broody, so she's not going to be trusted with eggs again, and if I don't bust Gwenyth as soon as possible then I likely won't be able to hatch from her this year. 
That's sweet that she wanted to make sure you were fed, too!
