Hi! I have a Barred Rock and her comb has been going purplish in the back and within 5 minutes it went back to bright red. Wondering if this is normal? She is acting normal, eating, dust bathing and being the bully at the top of the pecking order. Why does this happen?

Sometimes when birds get excited, startled, stressed, etc. it can happen. Since yours is resolving within a few minutes, that's probably all it is, and normal. There is a large blood flow in the comb, so it can be an indicator of things. If everything else seems normal, then it's likely not a worry. If a bird were lethargic, sick, showing other signs of illness, then the comb can often be symptomatic of that. In a sick bird it could indicate a heart or lung condition not providing enough oxygen. Your bird looks pretty healthy in the pictures, I wouldn't worry.
