Question of the Day - Wednesday, March 13th, 2024

Holy crap that's unreal, Y'all are crazy.
This is what it's like on highways in the NY metro area. Even cops fear to go on them, so the people doing 85 or 90 pretty much only get stopped by things like other cars. The speed limit varies from 55-65, not that anyone ever pays attention.

I may or may not habitually do 75 on them. That's middle-lane speed, sometimes slow lane.

Oh I see how it is. You'll put the work in for that but not help me out with finding one model.

Don’t you have camera’s on the highways in the US to ‘catch’ these fast drivers, to send a very unpleasant surprise letter?
The cameras on our freeways are not for catching speeders...they are for traffic reports.

Any speed cameras are permanently in their spots, so everyone knows where they are. Highways don't usually have them; they're more for residential areas. And radar detectors can spot them easily.
Here we have a lot of them (radar in combination with cameras) . And we have temporary setups too. And some systems that measure average speed between to points several miles apart.
It’s forbidden to use detectors. If the police catches you with a radar detector you get a huge fine. But some do, because the chance to get cought is relatively small.
