I have a turkey hen that has 8 2 1/2 wk. old poults. They've gotten large enough that both the hen and I have decided that they can roam the yard with her. They're still little scatterbrained things, but are learning not to panic so much at the unfamiliar.
Since they've been allowed out, my OEGB Buddy has decided that he is now their "protector". He'll follow them and keep them rounded up, kind of ushering them to keep up with their mother. Buddy has done this with other chickens, but I would have never thought of a roo doing this with another species. Has anyone ever had this happen before? It's kind of funny, because he's so small. I'll give them another month, and they'll be bigger than him!
