Hi I tried hatching eggs in an incubator for the first time and they hatched 4 weeks ago. I am so grateful for all the helpful information on this site. I just wanted to say that one of my Silkie chicks hatched leg first! I had such a shock when her claw and leg started poking out of the egg instead of her head. Anyway if this happens to anyone else I just wanted to say it turned out just fine in the end and now I have a beautiful strong chick. I had to put the egg in my hand for her to hatch so the leg sticking out of the hole in the shell could push against my palm to get the leverage to get out. She is a strong feisty chick.
