GENETICS QUESTION.
When I put my last batch in the incubator I had that showgirl rooster over those silkies. All regular silkies. I had a satin showgirl hatch from that. At the time they where all in the same pen for months ahead. After seperated they've only been with that regular silkie rooster. So HOW did I get a satin from all silkies? It hasn't happened again that I e seen. I just had a hatch a few days ago and more due in 7 days. Feathers aren't growing in yet to be able to see any difference. I've also had my showgirl roo seperated since than so none are showgirl. I'm very careful in collecting and marking eggs as soon as I get them so there was definitely not a mix up.

Did your silkie hens live with any non-silkie roosters before you moved them with your silkie rooster? Hens can hold on to sperm from other roosters for up to a month. If not then it's some kind of genetic fluke. I read another thread where two silkie parents from pure lines has a satin chick a couple months back.
