Thanks for checking out our post!

We’re completely new to chickens and are currently incubating about 35 eggs in a Farm Innovators 4250 on day 10!

We have gotten our eggs from friends that have Rhode Island Reds (of course), Plymouth Rocks, Orpingtons, and Australopes.

We have a homestead in Eastern, Kentucky and we try to publish our hobbies and homestead ventures on our social media pages and are primarily active on Facebook @GenerationHomestead.

We have a lot of hillside and not too much “pasture” but we have enough equipment to make the land useable for us.

There are dreams of becoming like the old people of the hills that didn’t go to the store and lived almost entirely off the land and their community. Chickens will be our first animal and we hope they’ll be a gateway to other animals such as dairy goats and hogs eventually. (Not that it’s ever happened like that to anyone here.)

We found BYC though YouTube Videos and our own chicken research and I can already see how much of a valuable resource this community will be.

Thanks for reading and wish us luck!
