The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Day 14 candle. Two blood rings, and one that looks like it made it to about day 5-7. Tiny little guy (it was the egg that has had some funky development all along) :(. So I'm down one Silkie and two Tetra Tint. Down to 13. The rest look pretty good. A couple are questionable...

What's a termtra tint? Pictures?

Went to get minerals for my goats at Big R. Walked past the "chick" area and these 5 lil cuties just jumped into my cart! Ha! ;)

What kind are they. They are so cute.

I think they're guineas aren't they?

Also, day 28 is in 1 hour for my duck eggs and I don't have a single pip...
I quickly candled and 5/6 were moving but not even an internal pip yet. I'm afraid they are all malpositioned.

Awesome will they hatch in April or do they hatch quicker than chickens
They take about 18 days to hatch, so I think they should hatch around April 5. It's funny how the pigeons lay once a month and they all usually lay within a day of each-other

It's like they sense the others rhythm maybe it's a surival instinct. More in a group the better the chances of surviving an attack. Just thinking out loud here.

So technically you can join Springing in the chicks hatch along. I think.

Someone in our neighborhood has about a dozen guineas that have been roaming around lately.  Noisy group!

Yes noisy! Don't have too many neighbors, mainly wanted them for bug control and to help alert for predators. Never had a prob with predators until we moved, a lot less people = more wildlife!
