I can see his pen from my porch. I love watching him stroll around in the distance. He looks like a secretary bird.
 
Does anyone here keep orientals up North? Curious what everyone does for the winter season for pens and what the pros and cons have been. Picture of my newest Shamos 😊

I had Shamo and Ganoi in southern PA and they were fine. I made sure they had a roosting pole where they could completely cover their feet with their feathers or just make them sleep on the floor. I was able to close their coop on the coldest days to prevent wind from blowing through. I had the Shamo for two winters and the Ganoi for four winters. Subsequent generations seemed do better than the originals.
