The last few days have been trying.

These last few days have been difficult. Sunday, one of our ducks was bit by a copperhead. This is after we lost one to a Copperhead a few weeks back. The good news she has has recovered. Then we had trouble with our hatch. Two quitters, one normal and 4 breech . Humon mom helped one to hatch yesterday morning and I stayed up all night helping the other three. 4 are now doing good in the brooder and 1 may just need more time to get his legs going. Since I demand pictures of other people’s ducks and ducklings, it’s my turn now. Pictures coming soon.

The drake is a Fawn and White Runner . The yellow ones are from a Pekin and the others are from one of two Rouens. We set the eggs the night before one Rouen died of snakebite.

I do not understand why neither K/C egg made it. All looked good going into lockdown. One of them just quit the other externally pipped but never zipped. @WannaBeHillBilly get your poop jar ready. These muttlings are really cute.

Love your ducklings! Those markings on the bills of the KC (assumed) and the Pekin look so great! And now you have one crested too. Will you keep them all for yourself?

The non Pekins are Rouens. neither K/C egg made it. One is really dark like a K/C but we believe that came from our Rouen with the dark bill that died and that the coloring is the blue gene that Magnolia Ducks gets from some of our eggs that she hatches. Keeping depends on the ratio. Any more than one drake will probably go for sale or to the crock pot. Crock pot is a more difficult option now since nobody listened to me about naming them .
