Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased 2 gold laced wyandottes and i am hoping to eventually enter them in my local show. I was just wondering what traits/colour/appearance is looked for in gold laced wyandottes? Thank you

Okay, first, Wyandottes are kind of circular in shape.
This illustration shows it perfectly.

Starting at the head, which is broad and round, we go to a short neck with a thick hackle and a back that appears very short because the coverts go in a smooth angle up the tail, which is kind of short and broad with lots of coverts.
Wyandottes are fairly fluffy which helps fill the shape.
They have a deep and round breast which completes the circle. Basically, Wyandottes are a bird of circles.

The important thing about lacing is for it to be clear and defined around each feather.
The main tail feathers will be black and the saddle, shoulders, and sickle of the male will not be laced but the other feathers will be.

Thanks so much, this is my Girl I wanted to enter in a show, from what you said I think her lacing is clearly marked? thank you
