Wild Duck question

We have 4 Black Bellied Whistling Tree Ducks. We recently had a large flock of wild ducks of the same breed stop by to visit them and I noticed that their colors are much more vibrant, particularly their leg and bill color. I am wondering if something is missing from the diet of my Whistlers. We feed catfish chow, romaine lettuce and some other salad scraps and wild bird seed mostly.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to keep these guys healthy until we can release them on the new farm?

Have you tried gamebird feed? It is for wild type ducks, pheasants, and quail. It is higher protein. I think purina makes it and its about $13 for 50 # here.
