I have a mama hen that hatched seven babies, right now they are all a week old. I have a order in for some baby chicks that will be here in a week. Would she accept the day old chicks if she already has two week old chicks? Would the age difference be too much? Thanks in advance.

Generally no. There are a few exceptional hens that will take anything, but most will attack chicks added after a day or two after hatching.

x2! Also, the new babies won't be able to keep up with the older chicks, and will be left behind. I wouldn't try it.

Thank you both, I thought it wouldn’t work, but wanted to see if there was a possibility. Thank you.

My has one 2 week old chick, five 1 week old chicks (feed store chicks), and 2 that are 2 days old that she hatched out. She got them all at night. And at the same time, same day.
