I’m just starting with ducks. I only have three and intend to keep it that way. Fortunately these don’t fly and don’t have access to the patio we use.

They have a nice big space! I’m surprised you have anything green in there on the ground, it took my flock one year to wipe out the weeds and grass.

Wow, that’s a bit harsh Penny! I got 13 eggs and 2 developed so I won’t have many. Decided not to hatch more, I ordered 3 ducklings to be shipped instead.

Definitely will! Almost half way through incubating the first batch.

I’m working on it, but I’m hatching Runner ducks right now. I miss my chickens SO MUCH and decided ducks would be an acceptable substitute for a while.

:loveHow old are your ducks? Is it as easy as everyone says to tell the hens feom the drakes by voice?

That sounds so nice! I understand the need to take a break, I do once in a while. We had enough rain last night to leave a few puddles but not much. It’s gardening season here, just planted artichokes, garlic, carrots and lettuce. No flock atm.

If you take the fake eggs out and collect regularly it may help the broody break. All I had to do was take eggs and give mine chicks and she left in a huff :gig

I managed to downsize a bit today. I sold the Turken and d’Uccle chicks. Almost got murdered by mama but managed to get out alive. I’m down to the rooster and 6 hens plus two AC chicks that are about 2.5 months old now. We’ll start working on integration this weekend.

When I was doing soaks I put the bird in the tub and pulled the shower curtain. You can soak a few at a time that way so less time consuming.

Yes’m I am. I have wanted at least one barred hen for a while. I lost 4 birds this year to heat after I sold 9 hens so I was left with only 3 hens plus some chicks and the eggs in my incubator.

They’re all moved in.
