how long can a broody hen be off her eggs?

If the eggs were allowed to cool for only 3-4 hours there's still a very good chance that they'll hatch. If you're good at candling but not as good at waiting, you can take a look to see if there's still growth or movement. Otherwise, wait until they're due to hatch.
 
Actually I don't use candling, I have a special lamp for seeing through the eggs. And there is a change inside the egg.

Is there a way that you could see if the egg is dead? Because I have a couple of eggs inside my incubator and I just don't know if there developing.
 
I had just one chick hatch. All the other ones she accidentally broke and in one of them their was a chick, but it was dead.
