I would say cockerel based on the comb. This is a 9 week old Brahma, my daughter thinks it’s a cockerel.. any ideas?
So you are seeing rounded hackle feathers ?The reason I am saying pullet is because at this age, the comb would be more reddened and the hackles are more rounded than a male's would be.
Yes, those are rounded. Males would have a more pointed shape. So you are seeing rounded hackle feathers ?
Thank you my daughter is going to be thrilled with this answer, this little pullet absolutely loves my daughter and will run to her and jump in her lap! This way daughter’s first time to have chickens!Yes, those are rounded. Males would have a more pointed shape.
Male feathers don't start coming in until around 10-12 weeks old, so that isn't an indicator here. The reason I am saying pullet is because at this age, the comb would be more reddened and the hackles are more rounded than a male's would be.
Was just going to say the same. Although I thought it was closer to 12 weeks. Either way, definitely not a factor yet.Male feathers don't start coming in until around 10-12 weeks old, so that isn't an indicator here.
