I have quite a few roosters and have not had a problem with them bloodying the hens... In fact when a roo goes for another roos hen, they chase them away before anything happens. I have a very happy flock even having a large number of roos.

So did you get these sold?

When are you supposed to get the chicks?

Your black roo looks like a cross between a buttercup and an americana, and if that is the case, it would explain where the gray/blue/black legs are coming from. Maybe passed down from grandparent stock?

I've got it. A strage roo is coming into your yard at night "sleeping" with your girls!! That should cover that mystery.

Partridge rock look up cacklehatchery.com and go to rare breeds, there is a roo that looks almost the same

Yes the carton is the way to go. Get the styrofoam ones though because they wont soak up the water. Im sorry things didnt go so well.
